The Emotional Impact Divorce Has on Kids
Divorce creates emotional turmoil for the entire family, but for kids, the situation can be quite scary, confusing, and frustrating:

Young children often struggle to understand why they must go between two homes. They may worry that if their parents can stop loving one another that someday, their parents may stop loving them.

Grade school children may worry that the divorce is their fault. They may fear they misbehaved or they may assume they did something wrong.

Teenagers may become quite angry about a divorce and the changes it creates. They may blame one parent for the dissolution of the marriage...

The term "Child Custody" has been phased out in Colorado. Instead, the term now utilized legally in Colorado is "allocation of parental responsibilities.". There are two main components to "allocation of parental responsibilities.". One is the division of parenting time between the two parents. The other is the division or sharing of parental decision making.

The guidelines for determination of spousal maintenance, established when House Bill 1058 became law in May, calculate support by taking 40 percent of the higher income earner’s monthly income and subtracting 50 percent of the lower earner’s monthly income. The law also considers such things as marital property and whether there are children. The period of support is based on the length of the marriage
